What is the best way for me to sell a CPAP machine(used for Sleep Apnea)?

Sunday, October 4th, 2009

I have a CPAP machine used for Sleep Apnea. I no longer use it, as I have found relief using a SnoreGuard. I have tried to sell it locally to my city on Craigslist. This has proven ineffective. The original cost was about $1600. I would sell it for starting price of $800. Any ideas of other better reached selling websites?
Thank You!!

If someone has sleep apnea are there any natural remedies besides a CPAP machine?

Monday, September 28th, 2009

I have been diagnosed with Sleep Apnea. I have tried using a CPAP machine and I found out I was allergic to the material in the mask and also the nose tubes. So I had to give up using the machine. Are there any other remedies such as like using a cool mist humidifier to help resolve the blockage in the air way.

I wouldn’t advise this, but I have heard people putting a small strip of tap over part of their mouth. Seems to work for some people.

Can you have insomia and sleep apnea?

Monday, September 28th, 2009

Or is insomia a symptom of sleep apnea?

These two sleep disorders are different and can occur at the same time. Basically insomnia is when a person has difficulty falling asleep, staying asleep or wakes up too early. It can be primary insomnia where a person is having sleep problems without any other associated health condition or problem. In secondary insomnia a person is having sleep problems because of something else. A person with insomnia may feel tired in the mornings.

Sleep Apnea is when a person stops breathing durring sleep. This most often happens when you relax and the pallet in the back of your throat falls and blocks the airway. It can also occur as a result of brains failure to signal the muscles to breathe. Sleep Apnea wakes the sufferer durring the night, even if they dont remember it. This can occur a few times per night to more than 100 times in a single hour. People who are over weight are the most common victems of Sleep Apnea. It can leave you feeling tired in the morning even after a full nights "sleep".

I know some about this because I suffer from both. My insomnia is caused because I am bipolar. My mind races and I have depression that makes going to sleep a long process and wakes me often in the night. Thank God for antidepressants and mood stabilizers. My Sleep Apnea is due to a weight problem, I am bordering on obese but loosing weight.

Check the liks below to learn more on each condition.

Hope I helped,
Terry

Sleep Apnea Treatment Options – What are Pillar Implants

Take the Sleep Apnea Test Today at http://www.mysleeptest.com.

The Pillar Procedure is a minimally invasive treatment option for mild apnea and primary snoring. This procedure is office-based, requiring only a local anesthetic. During the Pillar Procedure, tiny implants are placed into the muscle of the soft palate which reduces the palates tendency to flutter during sleep and/or block the airway.

Sleep Apnea Treatment Options – How Oral Appliances Work

Friday, August 28th, 2009

Take the Sleep Apnea Test Today at http://www.mysleeptest.com.

Oral Appliance Therapy. The American Academy of Sleep Medicine has concluded that a first line of treatment for mild to moderate sleep apnea is a custom made mandibular repositioning appliance (MRA). MRA’s open the airway by moving the jaw and tongue forward, increasing muscle tone in the soft palate. These results are achieved with relatively minor lifestyle adjustments. Additionally, custom made oral appliances have also been shown to be effective in reducing or eliminating snoring.

Sleep Apnea treatment: Dental device that allows you to breath through your mouth at night?

Friday, August 21st, 2009

I’ve been officially diagnosed with sleep apnea in the mild to moderate range. I also suffer from depression (probably sleep deprivation induced) and insomnia (late to bed/early to rise). I sleep for between 3 to 5 hours a night. Obviously this isn’t enough sleep.

I’ve tried CPAP, but can’t get used to it, mainly due to my problems with insomnia (my mind has trouble being "quiet"). I have a hard time sleeping without the distraction of a CPAP, and WITH it…. it’s impossible for me to sleep. I litterally just DON’T SLEEP with it on. I’ve been trying for 2 months (seriously).

I know there are dental devices that relocate your jaw and tounge, but I seem to have problems mainly with my "soft palette". I notice that if I breath through my mouth, it’s impossible for it to close off. SO, I was wondering if anyone uses or knows of a dental device that would have holes in it to allow you to breath through your mouth at night? Something like a mouth guard with a tube coming out… THANKS!

My husband has the same problem…It takes longer than 2 months to get use to the CPAP….he had to change the device that covers your nose to a more comfortable one.
I don’t think its the CPAP you are having trouble with..Its falling asleep and staying asleep.
Could be hormones making you stay awake and waking up early

Out of wack Hormones can make you stay awake and wake up every hour.
Check with your Doctor, antidepressent pills helped me sleep

What are the initial symptoms of Sleep Apnea? Can sleep apnea occur in individuals that are not overweight?

Tuesday, August 18th, 2009

Others hear you snore. When awake, you can be cranky, tired, and you have a desire to eat as the body needs the oxygen from the food. And yes, usually the person is overweight, yet not all are. I go to a sleep disorder clinic and there are all sizes, shapes, and ages who suffer from the condition. If you are concerned, you might think of getting tested.

If you experience sleep apnea to the extreme, you wake up gasping for breath; it’s horrible. I have sleep apnea, and use a CPAP. I am not overweight, yet I just stop breathing. I had the CPAP in my closet for over a year, then finally caved in and used it. It is a life saver. Technology can be a blessing.
